Golgotha (also known as Calvary) is the biblical site where Jesus Christ was crucified according to the New Testament. The name comes from Aramaic: Golgotha means "place of the skull" (or "place of a skull"). The Latin equivalent is Calvaria (Calvary), which also translates to "skull.". It was located outside the city walls of Jerusalem during Roman times (as required for executions), near a road, visible to passersby, and close to a garden tomb where Jesus was buried.
"And when they had come to a place called Golgotha, that is to say, Place of a Skull,[33] Then they crucified Him [35]"
Matthew 27:33 & 27:35 NKJV
